Ord

The tiny village of Ord is located on the north shore of Sleat, the southern peninsula of the magical Isle of Skye with spectacular views across Loch Eishort to the Cuillin Hills, Strathaird, Elgol and the Small Isles.  Ord is well known for its safe sandy beach, ideal  for lazy summer days, launching a kayak or windsurfer, or for the more adventurous perhaps to explore beneath the sea with snorkel or scuba equipment. Wildlife abounds in the area, with golden eagles regularly nesting nearby, buzzards and sea-birds as well as frequent sightings of the elusive otter. In the summer months there are occasional visits by dolphins and whales and there are some lovely walks around the village and along the nearby shores.
